American Tinnitus Association: An Introduction

The American Tinnitus Association has been set up to provide help to those who suffer from tinnitus – a ringing in the ears. When you have to live with this condition day in, day out, it can be a real challenge – especially when the causes and treatments for the condition can be so complex and hard to understand.

Tinnitus affects people all around the world, from all walks of life. Although it’s most commonly association with those older in age, it can happen to anyone. For example, William Shatner, from Star Trek fame, developed the condition after a prop exploded and damaged the nerves within his ear. He is just one of the supporters of the work of the American Tinnitus Association, and what it does to make sure that sufferers don’t feel alone.

The Association doesn’t only support its members by letting them know they’re not alone, but it also ensures that work is always being done to put funding into the research of the condition. At present there’s no cure or specific medication that can be taken to make the condition stop. However, the association believes that, one day, they will find a cure.

The American Tinnitus Association also goes into detail about all of the treatments that are currently available, to help people better manage the symptoms and to work on stopping the ringing with a number of ways. It also lists supplements and alternative remedies that have been shown to work in some cases.

Get onto the American Tinnitus Association to find out what you can do to help yourself and your tinnitus!
