Finding the ringing in ears cause can often be difficult, though the good news is that the cause is not usually harmful. Although ringing in ears (tinnitus) is usually associated with older people, there are a number of reasons why anyone could develop this condition.
Nerve Damage
This is the most common cause of tinnitus, meaning that the nerves inside the inner ear have been damaged. When this happens, the brain can interpret abnormal impulses in the nerves as sound, creating the “ringing” commonly experienced from tinnitus.
Other Causes
However, the ringing in ears cause could be something completely different, and in many cases can’t even be found. Some of the causes may include:
- Build up of ear wax,
- Infection in the middle ear,
- Otosclerosis (hereditary condition of abnormal bone growth in the middle ear),
- Anemia,
- Perforated ear drum,
- Condition affecting the inner ear.
There are also other causes, though these are less common, including:
- Head injury,
- Exposure to loud noise, such as an explosion,
- Impacted wisdom teeth,
- Reaction to medication,
- High blood pressure,
- Overactive thyroid gland.
Stress does not directly cause tinnitus but can often make it worse.
Getting to the bottom of your ringing in the ears cause is not always possible. However, even if you don’t know what the cause is, it is possible to treat your condition if you know the right self help techniques. Tinnitus Miracle is a guide created to help teach you just that.
